"What does heaven taste like?," I asked the stars above. Well, I found out on Saturday at Hudson 29. Celebrating the bae's birthday warranted a restaurant that wowed us, and even on a rainy, chilly night at 830p, H29 was in full swing. We started with the chorizo queso con chips and si si si muy bien! Unlike the paltry chicken-to-soup ratio one might find in a can of Campbell's, the chorizo in the queso was bountiful. Sinful amount of flavor in this dish. Our server Mike suggested the King-Kong roll to me, a delectable meaty and filling roll with warm scallops and spicy sauce. Amen, brother. I've had some questionable sushi lately and this dish alone reminded me that tremendous sushi still exists in this city. Here is what jay says about the French dip: "don't get the French dip if you're impartial to French dip, but if you do like it, then this is a good choice. Really flavorful. The corned beef looked equally as good though." DRAMA. There are so many great dishes. I think the dessert was my favorite part: warm donut upside-down pineapple cake balls lightly fried with a caramel dipping sauce. WHAT IS THIS. I could have eaten these until I exploded. The bad thing about restaurants like this is knowing that all other restaurants will henceforth be inferior to this dining experience.

Our night started out with drinks and Aaron was very quick to our table. The menu was unique with a lot of choices. My experience of asking the waiter to provide their top three items from the menu proves to me their love for the chef's ability to provide quality and quantity. Overall, my table was very satisfied with their food. The Hollywood burger was absolutely the best in town and those fries were also wonderful (I ordered a side plate to keep five other sets of hands off mine).

Met up with some friends here the other night and we had a blast! There is a parking garage with ample parking and access to the restaurant through a side door. Follow the arrows to "Reception" to find the host stand. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Service was great and food was fantastic, as were the drinks. I had the French 75 which is a little sweeter than the French 75s I've come to know and love, but tasty. I was not feeling meat that night, so went with the caesar salad to start, the black bean burger, and the kale and couscous salad on the side. All were great. I'm going to try to recreate the kale and couscous salad for a family dinner next week. We'll see how it goes!

Very classy place and I would recommend it! Perfect and fast service for lunch - and very reasonable for lunch! I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich and corn with avocado side - delicious! My friend had the omelet of the day - not a bite left!

oh Hudson 29...what follows is a graphic description of events, if you want to skip all of it there will be a TL;DR at the end. my friend and I were looking for a new place to try out and since CM owns like 99% of the places in Cbus and I had been to a couple CM spots we thought that Hudson 29 would be a good place to try. we had gone to Urban Sprawl for the day and had a couple of buns from the Hawaiian food truck but were certainly hungry by 530 (details are important here). I ordered the carrot ginger soup with quinoa and the french dip prime rib sandwich. the soup comes out and in true fancy fashion the waitress sits the bowl in front of me which at this point only carries the quinoa, ginger, onions and whatever other things went into the soup and as she sits the bowl down she tells me that it's hot. the soup was in a metal container with a spout, kind of like gravy bowl, she then pours it into the bowl. when she leaves i touch the bowl, not finding it too hot to touch, taste the soup and make a comment to my friend that the bowl was warmer than the soup. DUN DUN DUN soup tasted fine, i also had a pepsi and a water. about 10-15 minutes after soup food comes out, i take a bite of sandwich and realize that i am feeling SOOOO NAUSEOUS, i wait it out thinking maybe i drank too fast but then no i HAVE to get to the restroom where first bout of PROJECTILE VOMITING ensues. I come back to the table declaring that I feel better take another bite then immediately realize that was a negative on feeling better and i have to haul ass to the restroom again for the 2nd round of praying to the porcelain god. come out of the bathroom and my friend is finished her food, the waitress has left me some ginger ale because my friend told her i was sick. on the way home we have to stop on the side of the road, actually a Donato's parking lot (sorry Donato's) so I can avoid having the stench of vomit in my brand new car. So yeah, I spend the next few hours vomiting at home and feeling pretty crappy the rest of the night. I understand food presentation but I also understand food preparation. I'm 100% that the soup was not a temp where it should have been served, though since the symptoms were fast and furious it was likely Staph toxin induced and heating would not have helped but it would have made me feel better mentally...i will give it another try because of the wine deal and my friend enjoyed her food and let's be honest shit happens, i mean you can get food poisoning at home or your grannies' house but i thought i would share this experience with yelp.. good things about the place: waitress was good and nice, half price bottles of wine on Sundays which was awesome, try the Zinfandel from Brazin TL;DR: food poisoning bad, half priced bottles of wine on Sundays and service were good

Very typical Mitchell themed restaurant. Menu selection is varied, food is acceptable, pricey, noisy, efficient service. And soulless. Everything is so darn efficient and corporate, just one time I'd like to see something not work. That's a funny statement but true. I'd like to see what is really behind the curtain. I'm sure I'll be back for all the reasons I described. Just sayn.

This was a hard choice to make as I carefully had to evaluate my decision on giving this Cameron Mitchell restaurant four stars. Here it goes I was given a $25 gift card for visiting a dentists office. Who loves going to the dentist right? So you don't like to go to the dentist but the incentive to go to the open house is quite high because it's for a new associate and they might be giving pretty good stuff away. I enter my name into this drawing and who knows my name would be picked out of the bowl for not only a $25 gift card to any Cameron Mitchell restaurant but a free appetizer to 101 Beer Kitchen as well. Dam! Well that was a good reason to come to the open house even though we as human beings dread seeing the dentist sometimes! So how did we come to choosing Hudson 29 of all the different options we had? We of course looked at our handy dandy Yelp app that gave this particular restaurant a higher review than most of the others, plus the convenience of the area was a big factor into it as well. My husband and I wanted a short drive from our house because we were so hungry and it was 8:00 at night. I know eating late at night is not ideal but sometimes when you have no choice you must sustain your body somehow. We arrive at Hudson 29 in about 20 minutes which is awesome timing but we park across the street by the Whole Foods. So we cross the street and arrive in this very nice atmosphere, it almost made me felt like I was under-dressed! Well to say the least I was and this is a very casual environment. I was in a shirt, shorts and flip flops which is not ideal but okay for the time, I wouldn't arrive like this on a weekend as it would be embarrassing. My husband was better dressed than me and he was in his work attire!!! My husband ordered the St. Louis Ribs and loved how they just fell right off the bone and were so tender. The barbeque sauce was excellent he said as well. I ordered the black bean burger and couscous kale salad. Two great choices. Except I ruined my black bean burger by putting the salad dressing which I thought was mayo on it! My bad! I learned my lesson and will not judge what I thought of that burger as it might sound bad because of my misunderstanding of the side! I highly recommend the restaurant to those looking for a nice casual night out in a great American restaurant.

In from Dallas - great place and very unexpected! Best entree - scallops, artichokes, avocado, fresh croutons...fresh lemon grass tea and a fantastic server. The atmosphere is upscale but comfortable - I wore a dress with flip flops and felt right at home. Come try, you won't be disappointed

Some of the best ribs I've ever had! The meat just falls off the bone. The crispy buttermilk sandwich was pretty good as well. I wouldn't recommend the chips and dip appetizer, although the butter cheese bread appetizer was great. We also had exceptional service. Our server, Austin, had a very well knowledge of the menu and was super friendly and personable.

Been holding out because I'm a little worried that Cameron Mitchell has basically monopolized the Cbus restaurant market. Even if the food/service is hit or miss, people still flock to his establishments. Anyways, the fiancé gave me a CM gift card for a work promotion and we ventured out to lunch last Sunday. And I am absolutely glad that I did and cannot wait to go back! Here are my tasting notes: Cheese butter rolls: If you like carbs and dairy (which I do), just get these. Not earth shattering or a revelation, but this is solid comfort food done right. Steak and shrimp tempura sushi: This is now one of my favorite sushi rolls in town. Every component is perfectly executed; from the rare filet mignon to the spicy mayo. Cantonese noodle salad: I love me an old school Asian salad and this one is awesome. I love the fact that every item in this salad is perfectly chopped/cut including the cucumber and wonton strips. I would've preferred a few more of the noodles and perhaps less chicken (and usually there is never enough protein!). But overall, a solid salad. Crisp buttermilk chicken sandy: probably my least favorite. I expect a $14 fried chicken sandwich to somewhat knock my socks off, but this one was just ok. Honestly, I would prefer a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's over Hudson 29's version. However, the colcannon potatoes that accompanied the sandwich were delicious (mashed with horseradish) and I can definitely see myself ordering this one again. Fresh fruit juice: Both the fiancé and I were super hungover! So, drinks were out of the question. But, though not advertised, you are able to partake of fresh fruit juices. We tried a grapefruit juice and a lemonade and both were super duper refreshing. Lastly, docking one star because of the price. The food and ambiance was great, and the service fabulous. However, the cost vs. what you get is not proportionate, especially considering that this is not really a special occasion restaurant (at least not judging by the menu).

This Cameron Mitchell restaurant is a PEANUT OIL kitchen and cannot guarantee no cross contamination. Would not recommend if you have an allergy. All equipment is therefore contaminated and one cannot rely on perfect sterilization by kitchen staff.

Great food and great service. The sushi was fantastic. Fresh and delicious . Our party had the cheesy bread with marinara sauce, and it was superb. We also enjoyed the cheese board and rigatoni and sauce. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a bite a bit upscale without being pretentious .

Still 4 stars. Came for lunch shortly after opening time on a Friday. The restaurant was surprisingly empty, but maybe we were ahead of the lunch rush. This time, I ordered much more wisely--Hudson 29 Cheeseburger with Kale and CousCous and a Manhattan (at lunchtime!) for me. My wife had the black bean burger with fries and a fruity, vodka drink the bartender came up with. I think this meal definitely plays to Hudson 29's strengths. Simple, straightforward American classics. Everything was fantastic, though the black bean burger is probably the second best veggie burger in CBus (still behind Northstar). The service was excellent as always--just the right combination of attentiveness without being overbearing.

I am in awe of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants... They get it right. Every. Single. Time. And Hudson 29 is no exception. H29 was honestly not on my radar. It's in Upper Arlington (where I rarely go), and I had some preconceived ideas that it was stuffy and highfalutin. But on a random, snowy Monday night, The Mister and I found ourselves in the area and decided to give this place a try. (Pro tip: All CM restaurants use OpenTable for reservations.) Parking was a breeze with ample spots right out front on the street. And when we walked in, all my fears quickly subsided. The interior of Hudson 29 is absolutely gorgeous and right up my alley--dark, lots of warm wood, rich leather, and colorful artwork on the walls. It is a perfect date spot! We were greeted so warmly by the GM, and aside from a bit of confusion over who actually was our server, the service was spectacular. But here's why Hudson 29 knocked this experience out of the park for me: I have this wheat thing, and CM restaurants make gluten-free dining absolutely delightful. I try not to make a big deal out of it, so at most places I end up with an awkward hamburger patty on a pile of lettuce (or something equally as odd). Not here. They have an entire GF menu that's chock full of delicious choices that make me feel like a real person out to dinner. And their servers are all hyper-cognizant of wheat and gluten, so they are extremely helpful in making choices. I had a french dip and a side of fries, and it was pure perfection. The french bread they use is so good I was actually afraid to eat it before making our lovely server double check that it was safe. The beef was tender and juicy, and there was melted cheese in all the right places. The au jus was exactly the right condiment for dipping. For drinks, I started with a French 75, which was perfectly crafted, and then we split a bottled cocktail. Let me repeat that: THEY HAVE HOUSE-MADE BOTTLED COCKTAILS. Ours was a blood orange margarita, and it was tart, just sweet enough, and effervescent. I cannot wait to come back when the weather is warm and sit on their patio and get tipsy on these cocktails. The Mister is a gluten lover, and he liked Hudson 29 about as much as I did. It was just so special for me because they treated ME special--and not like a weirdo that most places do. I would venture to say this is my favorite meal of 2015 so far!

Cool joint for a birthday--great decor and ambiance--makes you feel like you're at a fancy restaurant. They were great about accommodating our huge party, along with helping us surprise a friend for her birthday. The food was OK, kinda odd with the sushi selection alongside the fancy steaks and chicken. Overall food was Ok, but I think overpriced for the quality. If I mustered up the change try the other options (perhaps the pricier dishes), I'd be back...perhaps..

I'm never eating again! Oh, in a good way. I am SO full. Two other Yelpers invited my husband a me to join them tonight for dinner at Hudson 29. I knew we were in for a treat when we attempted to make a reservation 24 hours in advance and had two choices, 4:30 or after 9:00. We opted for 4:30. We were not disappointed. We started by sharing the Dip Trio. Because I'm allergic to seafood, the server immediately offered to increase our portions of hummus and guacamole. Both were fantastic. I went on to have the Crispy Buttermilk Chicken with a side of Colcannon Potatoes and Roasted Corn & Avocado. My husband had the French Dip also with a side of potatoes. I'm going to pull the trigger and say the potatoes are the BEST I've ever had. My husband said his sandwich was an "A" (and he has had his fair share of French Dip sandwiches). I had two glasses of Riesling while my husband opted for two Bourbon & Honey. With tax and tip, our check came to $115.00 and it was worth every cent. The service was top notch. We came in a side entrance and must have looked confused. An employee immediately volunteered to show us to the hostess desk, and we were immediately seated. Our server was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. Parking was easy with a parking garage attached, and the restaurant was classy but not stuffy. My husband has told me at least 3 times that Cameron Mitchell was opening a Hudson 29 in New Albany, but I didn't really understand what that meant. Now I do! It means that New Albany is finally getting a top notch restaurant!!! I plan to visit Hudson 29 again and again. I love this place!!!!!

First of all, let me start off by saying that the quality of the food here is excellent. I dined here on 6/22/14 and ordered the prime rib, which was one of the best prime ribs I've ever had in Columbus. My wife had the rigatoni and the arugula salad. She liked both dishes, but I think she was disappointed that they don't offer a wedge salad like most of the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants. We also shared the dip trio and the hand cut french fries. The dip trio, on paper, makes no sense. (guacamole, hummus, and smoked trout?) But in actuality, each dip is excellent, and doesn't crash with each other like one might think. If I were to judge this restaurant on the quality of food by itself, I would give it 5 stars. The interior decor is nice, although it's way too dark inside. Next time, we'll plan on sitting on the outdoor patio. The servers here are very courteous and professional. As expected of a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. What prevents me from giving this restaurant a 5 star rating is the way their menu is set up. Although I came away feeling like I got an excellent meal and an excellent value, I can easily see how some others might be turned off by their pricing. $29 for an amazing prime rib is... well, amazing. $17 for a reuben sandwich on the other hand is ridiculous. Does that reuben sandwich come with a side of lobster mac & cheese or something? $10 for a side of california rolls is overkill as well... you could get the same thing elsewhere for $5. Also disappointing is that they don't give you bread-- if you want bread, you need to order their $6 cheesy bread as a side. So depending on what you order at this restaurant, you might have a 5 star experience, or you might have a 3 star experience. Choose your dishes wisely, I guess.

We sat and ate at the bar. Our server was top notch. My husband loved his draft beer. My mixed drink was good, but not good enough to order a second one. The Cheese Stuffed House Baked Butter Rolls were a wonderful start to our meal. They were served with a side of warm marinara sauce for dipping. This appetizer includes three rolls, and easily serves three people. There were only two of us, and we divided the third roll in half and tried not to eat it before our entrees arrived. We will definitely order this again. I ordered the St. Louis BBQ Ribs. I love ribs. I order them pretty much everywhere I dine. These were not good. They weren't bad, but I won't be ordering them here again. They lacked any flavor aside from pepper. I'm not sure how a piece of meat with so many herbs and spices slathered on it could taste as flavorless as it did. I only ate half of them. I took the other half home and put some store-bought sauce on them before finishing them later in the evening. The ribs were served with fries, which were really good, and slaw that was also very tasty. My husband had the French Dip sandwich. He loved it. I was jealous. It looked wonderful. I may be ordering it on our next visit. We split the Texas Sheet Cake for dessert. It was good, but I'll try something else next time. Overall, it was good enough for us to plan our next visit as we drove home.

We were a party of 4 on friday night and had 6:00 reservations. We were seated in a roomy booth by the bar and had a wonderful female server. This is definitely a special occasion place, given my entree was $26 and the specialty drinks are $10. Perfect for date night, it's dark & sexy. The bar alone looked like a romantic place to sit for a drink or a meal. There is parking behind the restaurant, which is shared with the residents above it. Interesting ladies room observation: the floor to ceiling wood doors for the 2 stalls have "in use" notifications when you flip the lock inside. I don't think I've ever seen this in a restroom other than porta potties and airplanes, but it's useful. The weird thing was there is a big gap from the floor on the wall separating the two stalls, so you can see the other occupant's feet. Enough about the restroom. The friday night special that I chose is the pan-fried fish, which was basically fish 'n chips. I had two pieces of lightly breaded fish with shoestring fries, and the most amazing slaw I've ever had. The fish was wonderfully light. I'm not a shoestring fry fan, but they suited the entree because they are lighter than steak fries that are usually served with heavy fried fish. My husband had the prime rib with mashed potatoes. The couple we were with had the rigatoni bolognese and the campari tomato flatbread. I also had a fabulous Bourbon & Honey cocktail, that had fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice in it. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal and we would definitely return for a nice evening out.

This place is great! I love the ambiance in the dining room- very romantic. I went with a few girlfriends and we split a bottle of wine and all got sushi. I am not a raw fish type of person so I got the surf and turf sushi roll. It was ah-maze-balls! The filet is raw on the outside, which I had never had before but it was delish! All of the main entrees are on the pricier side (around $25) the sushi was more reasonable, $15 for my roll. I highly recommend this place for a nice date or get together with friends!

This review is a couple weeks late but I still remember all the deliciousness that is Hudson 29 :) Max and I went here for lunch on Valentine's Day. The first thing I noticed was the lovely bar, it looked like a nice place to have some drinks and quiet conversation. I ordered a "bottled cocktail" which must be what the kids are into these days HA. It tasted like sophisticated juice so be careful with that (it was very good). We got the cheesy butter rolls which came out exactly as described and that was all I had ever wanted in that moment. If the words butter and cheesy and rolls put together does not get you excited, I don't know what will. They were amazing. By the time my entree came out I realized I had stuffed myself a little to much with the rolls, but alas, that didn't stop me from digging into the St. Louis rack of ribs I ordered. The meat fell off the bone, the coleslaw tasted fresh, and their fries are divine (small and crispy)! I took some of the meal home to devour later. This was almost a 5 star experience butler waiter disappeared for 20 minutes as we were waiting to ask for the check. The service is general was otherwise good.

I went to Hudson 29 for lunch with a pretty big group - I think there were 17 of us. The hostess and all servers were excellent. The food was top notch. Super convenient free garage parking attached to the restaurant. My only complaint would be the lighting - it was especially dark in there, and the wood paneling didn't help to brighten up the place. I bet it would be perfect for a romantic night out, though. I got the vegetarian black bean burger with colcannon potatoes - excellent. I also tried a piece of my friend's sushi. All the flatbreads got great reviews as well. I would definitely return!

Everything was amazing. They have Open Table which was very convenient since I knew Fridays would be busy. But I also was able to put in there that it was my boyfriends birthday and they surprised him. It made the whole celebration much more special. We got the bottled cocktail (bloody orange margarita) and it was to die for. Appetizer was cheese filled butter rolls, I got the Gerber Farm Chicken, and we split the pineapple upside down doughnuts with a caramel sauce. The meal alone was fantastic but the service was incredible. If you ever go, make sure your waiter is Marshall(he normally works behind the bar) because he is the sweetest as well as has the best recommendations. Thank you Hudson 29 for a great birthday celebration! We shall be back

Met an old girlfriend for lunch to catch up, and we both expected to be blown away on our first visit but were surprised at lack of enthrallment with menu and design. Formal facade with casual execution. Cameron restaurants are always a little loud, but tend to fit with a "lively vibe" generally due to popularity - here I could hardly hear my friend chatting, plus hardly see her in the candlelight. Prices were high and couldn't really get a feel for the menu and what kind of a story they were trying to tell (asian/steaks/rigatoni/what?). In that case I always try to feel out the waiter obviously for suggestions - but even that was unsucessful. Not sure if he was new or didn't speak English or what, but not very knowledgeable. I'll give it a star because the rolls were BOMB. Otherwise, I'd suggest sticking with the other CM concepts that are proven.

Best lunch ever. Ambiance friendly and contemporary. Inventive menu. Blended flavored out of this world. Had trio dip appetizer with smoked trout hummus and guacamole--so good. The scallop entree with beets, heirloom tomatoes, artichoke and the best croutons, different lettuces and balsamic dressing--best blend of flavored ever. What a great food experience.

I can't believe I keep forgetting to review Hudson 29. The main thing that gets 5 stars from me is the service. I go here on date nights, with kids, with out of town visitors and everyone is always thrilled. On my most recent visit I noted in the OpenTable reservation that I needed a GF menu and requested a table in a quieter part of the restaurant (the space between the two private dining rooms, FYI), and they did not need me to remind them. They actually seemed really pleased they could seat us where we wanted. Another reason I love it so much is that it's easy to eat here if you are Celiac or gluten-free for other reasons, even more so than other Mitchell establishments. They don't use as much dairy or butter in their food prep, which is another thing I'm currently avoiding for health reasons, and they always take good care of me. You can also get gluten-free fries here with no worries, they have a separate fryer. The servers always understand and are willing to help - on numerous occasions they have offered to find out if the nightly special is safe for me to eat, as well as soups of the day. Obviously the most important thing is the food itself, and it's always great. My favorite dish is the scallops, in which they somehow roast golden beets in a way that makes me want to eat them! My boyfriend and family are all fans of the prime rib, steak & enchilada, and the kids appreciate the fact that the kids burger is normal sized (but it still has a kid menu price!). Can't wait until the New Albany location is open next year so that I can go to Hudson 29 even more often.

There is a lot to like about Hudson 29. The location is great- Lane Ave business area, busy, friendly- very nice. The decor is all smoky leather and wood- feels quite refined. The service was lovely- our server was a true professional, and she was patient while our group of four (which included some older adults) took their time deciding what to get. Many positive attributes to this experience. Which is why I'm so bummed that the food and drinks were nothing special. Between the four of us we ordered red meat, fish, chicken, and a vegetarian dish. We also got a few starters. Everything was very blah- the chicken in particular was underseasoned, and the fish was not very fresh-tasting. Don't get me wrong- I don't think anyone was in danger of food poisoning or anything like that. I just think for the price, this food should be better. I'm sad to say some of the dishes tasted like an airport Chili's. The drinks were, as has been reported previously, disappointingly weak. I won't be going back unless the menu undergoes some reinvention.

Nicest dinner we've had yet in the Columbus area. It was also the priciest! We had a 7:30 pm reservation and once all four of us were present, we were seated on the patio. The area was smaller than the main dining room, but was also much quieter, which allowed us to have a proper conversation. It was quite pleasant. We started with a round of drinks, followed by an appetizer of meats and cheeses, which was very tasty. We then ordered our main courses, which were: Cheeseburger with Fries & Cole Slaw Prime Rib (with potatos) and 2 orders of the Sole (fish) special While munching on our meat and cheese, we struck up a running conversation with our waiter. He was young, (college aged), smart, funny and charming. He was also super attentive and had answers for any questions we threw at him. By the time dinner was over, we knew he lived on Campus, was Cuban in heritage and loved hot foods! We chatted about other restaurants,(he mentioned a Cuban place somewhere downtown). Another favorite place of his is Bakersfield, but he only goes there for the drinks... we told him he had to try the tacos they make there! The food arrived and everyone quieted right down. I had the Prime Rib, which was awesome. The filets of Sole were huge and very well cooked. The Cheeseburger was also great. No complaints here. We then split a couple of desserts, one was an apple crisp, the other was a dark chocolate cake, both had a little ice cream included. All told, this was a very pleasant meal, with the food and the service both rated very high! We will go back, but will first have to work very hard, so we can cover the check!

I am judging this harshly as this is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant (2.5 stars, if I could). Everything was edible, but incredibly underwhelming. My cocktail was meh. The service was ok. The food was a bit bland. (Maybe I psyched myself out after reading all of the great reviews about the French Dip, and expected it to be some kind of once-in-a-lifetime moment. I mean, it IS possible for me to be a bit too critical, since I get so excited about FOOD--perhaps it makes the "letdown" that much more severe?). However, the donuts were REALLY GOOD, I gladly admit (good to see something deliciously unique on a menu, too). Not a bad place, though I wouldn't go back anytime soon-- but worth trying at least once. And if you like it more than I did, even better!

  • Stacy R.

I really want to find a good reason to crave this place and give it 5 stars, but alas , I can not. It's not that it's bad, not that the ambience isn't good, not the service isn't good, or even the food... But that's just it...it's average. I think it runs off its popularity because it's a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. And if you've read any of my other reviews, I'm a huge CM fan. So I guess that's why I expected a little more for the price you pay. Some things I really like about it: the food is good, especially the burger, believe it or not. I've also liked the scallops and their tomato basil soup. And their mini donut dessert is delish! They've got good variety in their menu if you have a party with different tastes. But again, there are other places that I like better for the price.

Solid, professional service in a modern, streamlined space. Hudson 29 is a prime spot for lunch, especially power lunches from what I could tell, and they have ample seating for larger parties. Prices are a little steep but the food is excellent; everything from the French fries to the sushi are on point. Little touches like the chocolate mints they bring out with the bill make this place memorable, and just goes to show that Cameron Mitchell has honed and perfected his game.

We really enjoyed our belated anniversary celebration. We are going through the alphabet to encourage us to try new places Hudson was our go to place for"H". The drinks, salads, entrees and dessert were great. The timing was seriously off. The entrees came before we could finish our salads and the shared appetizer. We called the manager over and he was very pleasant and listened attentively. He also adjusted the bill accordingly and treated us nicely. We will be back! And recommend you try it too.

Good, not great. Fine, not fantastic. Dark wood, low-lighting, clubby, crowded, loud. By "clubby" I mean old white guys at Ted Knight's country club in Caddyshack. The service was attentive. The food was good, but definitely NOT great. Prices are high for what you get. Only Cameron has the nerve to charge you $7.00 for 3 dinner rolls with some cheese melted on top. On a Friday night, the place was PACKED. This is clearly "the" place in Arlington at the moment. I was frankly surprised by the clientele, because I expected mostly 50- and 60-something divorcees, and there were plenty of those, but there were also lots of younger couples (mostly DINKS) having a drink after work or an evening out. Definitely not a t-shirts and casual shorts kind of place. Folks were mostly dressed to be seen, except for a few rich old white guys in golf shorts and Birkenstocks or leather flip flops (I kid you not). Definitely not a place I'd take children. The management would probably say they're kid-friendly, but I wouldn't bring our kids here. In the restaurant business they say "location, location, location". Hudson 29 will bear that out. There are DEFINITELY better restaurants in Columbus, but this will do well in spite of itself. All in all, I'm underwhelmed, but am sure Cameron will make a killing here among the Arlington pretty people.

I am never unhappy with the food and service at any Cameron Mitchell restaurant. This is no exception. The menu has a variety of options. Sushi, ribs, flatbreads, taquitos...what?? For a person like me this is amazing because I love options and variety. As usual the detail on the food is amazing. From the sauces to the fine knife cuts on everything, including the scallions. Nothing goes unnoticed on the plates. As I watched fellow diners, I noticed every plate leaving the tables empty. Good sign always! Right there with the food is their service! You are always acknowledged by someone and if you make eye contact they are right there to see if you need something. Management is always walking around and talking to guests which makes me feel at home. Manager Bill is always a kind soul and checks back frequently to make sure things are going smoothly. Service and food amazing! Hard to find a place that does both smashingly! Highly recommend this place and any other CMR restaurant!

We drove by this place while we were in the area and decided to give it a go. It was about 1pm on a Saturday and the few people that were there were on the patio. The hostess and servers are all dressed in the kind of outfits you'd find at a high end restaurant. The ambience was dark with candles lit and seemed like it was geared toward young 20-somethings with disposable sushi income but there's a big ol' bar with sports going on TV's. So this place seems to suffer from a bit of an identity crisis. We spy the hot buttered cheese rolls on the menu and knew those will be had. She brought them out and the only disappointment is there were three instead of four which meant I was going to have to maim my husband for one. We chose to split instead of end up at the hospital over these perfectly buttery, cheesy bites of heaven. I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and the hubby ordered the prime rib. Oddly, the prices weren't too far off from each other. The rigatoni was good. The beef in the Bolognese is beef roast, not ground beef in case that makes a difference to anyone thinking about it. I wasn't a huge fan of that but it was fine. I kinda wished I had saved my half of the butter roll to sop up the sauce. The hubs got the prime rib with colcannon potatoes (mashed potatoes with scallions, cabbage and horseradish but she let him try some before he ordered so he knew if he'd like it or not.) He said it was good but when he gave me a bite, I knew darn well it was overcooked for his taste and he confessed it was. (No pink at all) The flavor was decent and he said the further he got into the potatoes, the more pronounced the horseradish got so he didn't finish them and said he wouldn't get them again. As we were ready for our check, the server went into the desserts, which we weren't interested in. Then she said the magic words. Texas Sheet Cake for him and Pineapple Upside Down Donuts for me. Oh hell, why not bust the button on my jeans. I'm not a sheet cake kind of gal so I wasn't impressed with the bite I had of his (a generous portion for sure!) but I was kind of bummed with mine. When one says pineapple upside down anything, you think of a heavily butter soaked cake with pineapple goodness. These were more like the malasadas (fried dough balls coated in sugar) we get in Hawaii, which isn't a bad thing but not what I had my mouth set on. The caramel sauce was kind of gross too. So I wished I hadn't been suckered by the seductive description. I'm not sure yet if I'd go back but I might for those rolls...one order for me and one for him because I'm not sharing!!

Hudson 29 was just as perfect as I imagined it to be. The ambiance is slightly dark, but also elegant and romantic. Nice place! We started with the cheese-stuffed butter rolls with marinara dipping sauce.... Beyond amazing. Boyfriend had the King Kong and surf n turf sushi rolls. He said they were both great. I had the special of the day, the shanghai salmon. Hands down best salmon dish I've ever had! It was sweet and savory, and cooked absolutely perfectly. Our server was very knowledgable and super friendly. Overall great experience. We can't wait to go back!

Love!!! Hard to make choices!! Had the cheese stuffed butter rolls, shared Surf and Turf roll and sushi salad. Had enough room for pineapple upside down donuts and coffee. We'll be back!

Very good food Dinner date and Hudson 29 was the venue to try! Upon entering it was clear they were busy, we had to wait 5 or 10 minutes before being seated. No biggie, we were seated in their patio area which was pleasant (but loud). To start we had the shrimp taquitos appetizer. It came out really fast with 5 shrimp taquitos and garnish on the plate. The dish was tasty, but seasoning on the shrimp would have made it excellent. For entree I had the scallops dish. Again, really fast service with the food coming out in no time at all. Considering the price it was not much food on the scallops dish. If I remember right 5 or 6 scallops and the rest of the entree offerings (beets, greens, tomatoes). The beets were amazing as was were the greens. Well dressed and kept simple. The tomatoes were alright, but a bit large. The scallops were very good, could have been just a bit more firm but still cooked well and had good flavor. It seemed like I ate the dish in 2 or 3 minutes! Thankfully I enjoyed every bite. I will definitely be back.

Went in on opening night with some friends and this place does not disappoint! Great staff, great drinks, excellent service and good damn food! Hope it stays around for a while The only weird thing is the location...but hey,.this is columbus..what do you expect?!

Another Cameron Mitchell success! Ambiance, use of space, and seating is amazing. Their alcoholic sodas are unique to Columbus and food is up to par with a Cameron Mitchell joint... The service was quick, attentive, and extremely helpful when making decisions. Highly recommend!

Cameron Mitchell never disappoints. This is what I thought as I rolled out of here Wednesday night, fully satisfied. My friend tried to make reservations for the two of us online and there were only very early or very late times, so he decided to call, and we needed to add people to our party to get in at prime time. I texted Boyfriend, and we were good to go for 5:45pm. When we got there, we parked in the parking garage and walked in the back door to the restaurant. I'm not sure how many people do that, I accidentally walked in on a chef meeting and one of them backed into me and stepped on my foot as I tried to get around. Clearly, he was very apologetic, and I was very fine. We were given the option to sit immediately inside or wait until a table opened on their patio which was my vote because I always love patios but also I hate overly air conditioned spaces, which is what I was feeling by the front desk. It only took about 10 minutes and we were happily seated outside with glasses of waters poured by someone who seemed to be a designated water-pourer. He didn't say a word, just poured our water and sidled away to do the same at nearby tables. Our waitress came and greeted us and was the picture of friendly and attentive the whole meal. She recommended the triple dip appetizer and encouraged me to get the fries, especially when I was tempted to branch out and try one their less traditional snacks. The dips were all amazing, the chips clearly made in house, and when our meals came, things just got even better. Black bean patties are hit or miss everywhere you go, and more often than not, they're a miss. She encouraged us to try them and she was dead on. The patty was very simple, very soft, and just excellent. The bun was great, the sweet pickle mayo was to die for and I hate sweet pickles, and the fries were amazing as promised. Pricewise, I feel like everyone assumes a night out at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant is expensive, and it is when you're going for seafood and steaks. But for $13, I think that was very fair and reasonable for a huge burger and side and I could not finish. Luckily, she offered to box it up for me (I'm always a fan of that)!

I like it. Solid 3.5 stars. I have only been a few times for lunch. Food is good, service (like all CM restaurants) is exemplary. It is just a bit... pedestrian, I guess. Nothing stands outs. Even though I have eaten there 2 or 3 times, I can't tell you what I had to eat. I am unsure how to describe the inside, except for contemporary and dark. I just don't remember much- which is both good (because I must have had a solid experience because there is nothing specifically to complain about) and bad (because Cbus is filled with excellent dining experiences). Hudson falls solidly, and somewhat silently in the middle.

The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was very friendly. Went on opening night and there are a few kinks to work out, like the fire alarms going off a few times. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese and my fiancé ordered the steak and enchilada. The enchilada was fine but the steak was the star. Tender, flavorful. Rigatoni was excellent too. Shrimp taquitos were tasty but not enough food for the money. A little on the pricey side, as expected. Will definitely go back at some point.

I had looked forward to trying this place out for a few months and finally went on a Monday night. Right away there was a big problem because me and my brother had a reservation for 8pm and even arrived early and yet the hostesses seemed to forget about us and seated 3-4 other walk in groups. Making us wait about 40 minutes when there should've been no wait, this is why you make a reservation in the first place. On a positive note one of the managers came and apologized and gave us 2 $7-10 appetizers and 4 mixed drinks on the house. This situation was handled well by the manager and it's not the reason I give them a 3 star rating. My brother ordered steak and enchiladas that the waitress recommended as a special dish but he said they weren't anything special. We are Mexican so we've been eating enchiladas for years. I had the pan seared scallops which they left searing too long and were slightly rubbery and dry. Even the vegetables didn't seem crisp or fresh to me. The drinks also were about average compared to similar American cuisine restaurants with a emphasis on mixed drinks made their own special way. I plan to give this place another try but I'm not in a rush to return, I give a restaurant two tries because many different factors might impact your dining experience. Maybe next I'll try their feature calendar entree and see if it is good or not. But Definitely order the cheese stuffed house baked butter rolls, they are probably the best thing I had all night and I would love to make this at home. Of course my opinion is just that, an opinion and give this place a try and maybe you can find something different that I did not.

Hudson 29 reminds me very much of one of the chic east coast restaurants I am used to. Very swanky with a great decor. Expensive but worth every penny and a great happy hour.

I grew up in Upper Arlington and never found any of the area dining establishments worthy of a true five-star review. The high reviews I have given to Tommy's pizza down the street from here is more for nostalgia, but most Yelpers would not say it is a five-star place. New to UA this year, Hudson 29 is definitely a top-notch experience. The decor is modern, with dark wood, romantic lighting and a great view of the goings-on in the kitchen. If I were on business in the area, I would not hesitate to take a client here or even just sit at the large bar and enjoy a meal by myself The price points are not cheap - $15+ sandwiches, $10+ salads, $20+ entrees. There are relatively inexpensive flatbreads. Strangely there are a few choices of sushi rolls, but most of the menu is standard American fare (steaks, chicken, fish). The absolute highlight of our experience here was our server, Desiree. She memorized all five of our names and used them throughout the service. Our iced teas and waters never went empty without being served another. She bused the table quickly and discreetly. She wasn't pushy, and patiently waited while we pursued the big menu. She was a wonderful server. For food, my wife knows I love prime rib french dip sandwich. It was a big portion of perfectly medium rare beef with horseradish sauce and the au jus. While I was blowing my diet, I opted for the French fries, which were fresh cut with skins on the ends. My wife loved her Cantonese salad. As did my step-mother her Grilled chicken salad. My dad devoured the barbecue chicken flatbread. The best thing we ate - and everything was excellent - was the sweet corn bisque. I have a relatively few restaurant we "must" hit when we come back home. I think Hudson 29 just got added to the list!

I brought an out of town friend here for apps and drinks on "Cougar's Night Out". It was a cool Friday night in June and the restaurant was very busy. The bar was full of young(ish) singles. As other reviewers have noted, this place is really noisy; don't plan on having an intimate, important discussion during the dinner rush. Hudson 29 has modern decor and is right in line with the look and feel of the other Cameron Mitchell joints in town. The price point is similar, too. It is definitely the new "IT" place in UA. We split the dip trio, I had the bottled Bourbon Cola, and she ordered the Bourbon & Honey. We enjoyed the food and drink and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Hudson 29 would be the perfect spot for a date or a special occasion dinner.

Overall, really tasty! For starters, the parking situation is amazing. The parking garage is within walking distance to the restaurant and it made my night, how easy it was to park! (5 stars for that!) The ambience of the restaurant is great too, with dark woods and soft lighting. Very intimate. I also really like how the restaurant is divided into smaller 'rooms' bc it makes it less noisy. Our server was Hoda, and she was soft spoken but not extremely helpful. I ask lots of questions anywhere I go, and she wasn't as versed in the menu as I would have liked. Perhaps more training? Anyway, I decided upon the surf and turf sushi and the center cut filet. The sushi was AMAZING! I could have died right then! One of the best sushi dishes I've had anywhere- WELL DONE! With my filet, I decided on the tomato and feta (this is where her expertise could have really came into play.) The presentation was so so, and the tomato and feta was very liquidy and got on my steak. I asked for the steak to be a soft medium and Hoda referred to it as "medium push." It came out perfect! I cut into it and it was bursting with flavor and had a nice crunch to the outside which I love! I tasted the tomato and feta, and HATED IT. Weird combination of things in my opinion. I asked Hoda for another suggestion and she suggested I try the corn and avocado. No reason. So I took her suggestion at that, and tried that. Didn't hate it, but didn't enjoy it either. In my personal opinion that type of steak would be perfect with the classic potato, and that's what I should have paired it with. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our time there and most of the food I had was great. I will be back for sure.

Visited on a Friday night that seemed less busy than expected. We were a few minutes early for our reservation but were seated right on time. I was a tiny bit underwhelmed by the drink menu but pleased with the French 75 I ordered. We ordered the cheese rolls for an app - they were just okay. My husband's prime rib was awesome. My rigatoni Bolognese was decent if a little boring. A delicious dessert of fresh hot donuts rounded out the meal nicely. I would have given Hudson 29 3.5 to 4 stars if not for the slow service. Our server kept chatting up the tables in our section to the point that it took 20 minutes simply to pay the check. He also seemed to be in the back for long stretches of time. We expect more out of a Cameron Mitchell restaurant.

First of all, let me just say that the food was delicious. I had the rigatoni bolognese, which was a fresh new take on a classic dish, and my boyfriend had the steak and enchilada, which was delightful. The Hawaii Five-O sushi roll was also out of this world. If I were to come back, it would definitely be to try the rest of the awesome menu. With that being said, however, there were a couple of things that made this restaurant a lot less successful to us than other Cameron Mitchell endeavors. First, the cocktails left a lot to be desired. Yes, they have fancy-schmancy house-created cocktails that sound delicious, but it's all basically a ruse to cover up how weak they actually are. My boyfriend's manhattan was almost all vermouth and bitters, whereas I had the weakest gin&tonic I have ever had in a restaurant in my whole life. This is a nice, expensive Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and, like The Pearl, they seem to be really skimping out on the quality of the drinks they offer to save a buck. And at $7-10 a cocktail, that's just ridiculous. Also, we felt really uncomfortable and rushed by the wait staff. They're all clean, friendly, and dressed to the nines, but we could tell immediately that they wanted to get us the hell in and out of there so they could flip the table for the next chump. I expect that sort of treatment at more casual places like El Vaquero and even Cap City Diner, but here, it was just ridiculous. Our waitress wanted to immediately know our whole order when we asked for drinks, and came back only seconds later with a strained smile when we told her we needed a "minute" to look over the entrees. Apparently, they are very literal there, because we were basically shoved in and out the door in under 45 minutes. Ridiculous. Though the food, decor, and ambiance were all fantastic, we felt really disappointed by the pathetically weak drinks and rushed service. For a $90 tab, I feel we should have gotten a lot more time and bang for our buck. I would recommend The Pearl and M instead--at least they give you some reasonable time to look over the menu.

I had been wanting to try out Hudson 29 since it had opened. I had high expectations for this Cameron Mitchell establishment, since I've had pleasant experiences with their other restaurants in the past. Unfortunately, Hudson 29 fell short of my expectations. The food was good, although nothing particularly special struck me about them. I ordered the dip trio to start, and had the St. Louis BBQ ribs for main course. The portions were very generous, and I had leftovers even after splitting my entree with a friend. Service seemed slow for a Wednesday evening. Our server boxed our food and had even labeled the entrees on the boxes, but somehow I went home with my friend's leftovers instead. Overall, for the price and experience I expected better. Would I go back? Possibly, but not of my own persuasion.

We've tried this place twice now and the second might have been worse than the first. The buttered cheese rolls were stale, glorified garlic bread. They were hard (not on purpose) rolls with a little bit of melted cheese on top and served with marinara. Really gross, don't try them! Salmon was over salted and very basic. I could have made it better at home. The scallops were rubbery and bland. The roasted corn and avocado side was delicious and the only thing we were able to finish. So for a hefty bill, we only enjoyed the one side dish and we will not be returning. This is definitely my least favorite CM restaurant.

This was my second visit, and will also be my last. My friend and I went yesterday (which was a Friday) and found the bar area busy at about 5:30. There was one empty barstool at the end. I stood so my friend could sit down. We ordered glasses of wine and asked about the booths around the bar and were told they were all reserved. The red wine was very warm, probably 75 degrees. So while we were looking at the overpriced menu, the bartender proceeds to tell us that the barstool my friend is sitting in is also reserved and the person just stepped out for a minute. Really? Since when do places reserve bar seating? Nobody was sitting there and the guy in the next seat didn't say anything. I went from disappointed to offended. I expressed my dissatisfaction for the wine temperature and their "guest services" and we promptly left.

Have had great service and great food each of the two or three times we've been here. Also - for all you oenophiles out there - they serve their bottles of red wine at the correct temp, which is BIG news. They are one of the very few restaurants in Columbus that does not serve warm red wine.

The restaurant is lovely. I wish I would have known about the parking but did not see that when looked at the website. I was meeting an out of town client. They did move me when requested. The dining room was much too loud for business conversation. I was seated and saw my client sitting in lobby so went to fetch her. Neither meal was impressive. Mine was wrong and the server realized and got me the corrected meal. I was excited to get the chicken salad with kale. I love CBC pulled chicken salad, but unfortunately this was mostly greens with a smattering of chicken and a few bits of beets. A very disappointing first visit and didn't impress my client-except for the parking. I am sure I will visit another time and sit at the bar, but will not bring anymore clients.

Great addition to the CM family. A hot spot! Food was very good. I started with the BBQ chicken flatbread. Then I had the rigatoni. I was hesitant to order an Italian dish but I read previous reviews that it was good. And it definitely was! A bit pricey, but worth it. reminds me of Houston's/ j Alexander's.

Our group of 6 had a nice lunch here on Monday, including a 4-year-old, a high school student and adults of varying ages, and there was something on the menu for everyone. While none of us were blown away by the cuisine, it was good, and came quickly. The service was great, and our giant corner booth was comfortable and nice for conversation. The easy walk to Graeter's afterwards is a nice bonus!

Simply lovely. Cameron Mitchell does it again. The food and the service (both of which are equally important when dining out in my opinion) are always exquisite at his restaurants, and Hudson 29 is no exception. The layout of the restaurant is a little confusing, as there is a parking garage attached to the restaurant that connects to a side entrance to the restaurant. However, what appeared to be a waiter at a server's station noticed my lost look and not only took me to the reception desk, but looked up my table and took me to the group I was meeting up with. Now that is service when someone goes outside his job description to help a customer. Our waiter was extremely personable and knowledgable on the menu. We ordered what he called "adult sodas". They bottle their own soda and add alcohol to them. I had the bourbon cola and other ladies in my party ordered the grapefruit fresca. The bourbon cola had a nice balance between the bourbon and cola, and had a surprising hint of raspberry that also blended well. I had a sip of my friend's grapefruit fresca (hesitant to order it myself since I am not a grapefruit fan), and it was crisp and refreshing. I would order it in future visits. We had the four cheese rolls for our appetizer. It comes with three rolls and a side of marinara. The rolls were very good; not overwhelmingly cheesy or lacking. However, the marinara could use a little work in my opinion, but I still kept dipping! I had the pepperoni flatbread for my entree. I was pleasantly surprised. The crust was light but with good flavor, and the balance of cheese and pepperoni and taste of each was excellent. I look forward to going back and ordering a heavier entree (prime rib, steak, gerber chicken), as everything looked delicious as I scouted out what waiters were bringing other tables. For dessert, our table ordered the chocolate Texas sheet cake (comes with a scoop of vanilla graeter's ice cream) and the pineapple upside down cake doughnuts. The sheet cake is thin but takes up a whole plate, so definitely a shareable dessert. The pineapple upside down cake doughnuts come in a big pile (maybe 8 or so large doughnut hole sized balls) and have a side of caramel dipping sauce. Both were excellent. I do not like pineapple, but even I was a fan of the doughnuts (there are pineapple chunks baked inside the doughnuts). All in all, excellent food, supreme service, great atmosphere (though a tad on the loud side due to the restaurant being packed). I will definitely be back!

Went last night for Valentine's Day. Started with a sushi roll that had scallops on top. It was very good, spicy with a nice flavor. I ordered the bourbon cola and my girlfriend ordered the bourbon and honey. Her drink was better than mine , mine tasted like a very tart fruit drink. For dinner I got the prime rib and she got the black bean burger. I had high hopes for the prime rib based off of other reviews and it was good but not great. My mashed potatoes I figure were hand mashed as there was a solid chunk of potatoe about an inch and a half long that wasn't cooked all the way through. Her black bean burger she said was good but not as good as bar145. The fries were awesome but they're still just fries. We ended with the pineapple upside down donut holes. These were pretty awesome, warm and sugary with a caramel sauce to dip. Delicious. I however expect more out of a $110 dollar meal (tip included) I guess next time I'll just go back to martini or Mitchell's

Had dinner with a friend last Tuesday evening. I had the snapper and was able to get potatoes as a side. Can't remember what came with but it didn't appeal to my taste. My friend had the prime rib. Both dinners were very good. The snapper was a nice size as was the prime rib. The potatoes were very good. We also had the shrimp tacitos (?). Loved, loved, loved them. It's really a simple dish but they were very tasty and fried crisp. The service was great. We were seated quickly and our waitress was very informative about the specials and answered any questions we had about the menu. We had the donut holes. They were gr ea at. I really liked the pineapple inside. The caramel sauce on the side was great. Definitely a place I will return to.

Hudson 29 measures up to what we've come to expect in a Cameron Mitchell enterprise. There is a sophisticated urbane ambience which one feels from the moment you enter and is consistent with the homage to a NYC restaurant described on the menu. Every CM restaurant has a theme, and so discriminating patrons will neither fault CM's M Restaurant for not having chicken fingers for the kids nor fault Cap City Diner for not having Lemon Chiffon for an elegant dessert. The point is that not all restaurants are suitable for all occasions. Obviously. The service at Hudson 29 was equivalent to CM's high standards. We had thrown the receptionist a major curve when we arrived just in time for our Saturday, 7:15 reservation, fully expecting to be promptly seated. The place was SLAMMED with 4 or 5 parties waiting, the bar and restaurant clearly at capacity. When we presented ourselves, the receptionist did not find our name on the reserved list; she did a a search and discovered that the reservation had been made for a week LATER (clearly my bad); without a pause or indication that it was My Stupid Mistake, she said she was pretty sure we could be seated within 30 minutes...and so we were. BRILLIANT courteous and welcoming treatment by the staff of confused customers who might have been simply turned away. (Under the pressure of the moment, it would have been far easier to have dismissed us!) I've read all the Yelp reviews so far and see that I'm the fifth to comment on the fact that this is a high-decibel eatery. Not merely noisy, I'm talkin' LOUD! So loud, in fact, that it was nearly impossible for my companion and me to have a casual conversation. So loud, in fact, that we had to point at our choices on the menu, because our server wasn't able to hear us. What this suggests is that the diners here were having a raucous good-time. It also suggests that this is exactly according to the preparation and plan of the designer/owners of this establishment and is not a mistake, carelessness, or mismanagement by CM but in accordance with the conceptual intent of it being a High-Energy-Destination, which has to be a point to consider when making dinner plans in the future. But when I'm looking for a serene and romantic dinner destination of CM-destinction, I'll probably select "M" or "Ocean Club" over Hudson 29! Another appreciated feature is the free, adjoining-garage-parking which will be a deal-breaker during Columbus' seasons of crappy weather.

First, I've never had a bad experience in a Cameron Mitchell restaurant; never until this evening. Our first visit to Hudson 29 and we were really looking forward to it. My wife had the red pepper soup and the salad with chicken and loved it. Our dinner companion had the reuben and was not very impressed. No kraut (braised sour cabbage as they described it on the menu) and served on rye instead of the marble rye listed on the menu. I ordered the Cheeseburger, I love a great cheeseburger and it's one of the things I measure a restaurant/grill by. I ordered it medium rare but the server told me they only cook it well done. I've never had that happen before but I decided to trust the server's recommendation. The burger was delivered and it was a hockey puck. overcooked and very well done and the fries were so salty they were virtually inedible. Overall a real disappointment. From the other reviews this seems to be out of the ordinary, so we will try it again, but this was as bad a first experience as I've every had in a Columbus restaurant, much less a Cameron Mitchell restaurant.

Our first experience here was fantastic. There's a great vibe, though I agree that it's pretty loud. The menu options were fantastic--I thought the variety was preferable compared to The Pearl. I went out on a limb and ordered the sushi, and it was delicious!! Everything we ordered was a hit. Really glad there's another great Mitchell restaurant in the area.

I can't figure out how so much thought went into a great atmosphere, and yet my sandwich seemed like an afterthought. Bland. Bland. Bland. Had it not been a business meeting--where I was the guest--I'd have immediately sent back my meal. I'm willing to give it another try sometime, but I'm very hesitant: it should be difficult to mess up a chicken sandwich, but they actually excelled at doing so.

My friends and I enjoyed Hudson 29 for a relaxed bachelorette party. The hosts and waiters were very professional and charming. The drinks were great--thoughtful, well mixed. The four cheese rolls were not as amazing as advertised (we all thought they tasted like Bosco sticks that they serve in school lunches). But the Sushi was WOW! I think if there was a real negative, the vibe was a little confusing. I could not tell whether one was suppose to wear casual wear or dress clothes, or if it was a family place or for young adults, or older folks. But, maybe that's a good thing? But, again, sushi, WOW!

This would have gotten 5 stars for the ambiance and the food, there were a couple of service rough spots. Made a reservation thru Yelp! that was so easy, then we arrived a little early but our table was ready. They have a gluten-free menu that was a deciding factor for my daughter to eat here. We had a wine country board as an appetizer and devoured it. The only small problem was a small chunk of hard and delicious cheese that was hard to slice with our dinner knives. The mains were excellent and pretty quick in coming. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Date night!!! Whoooo hooo!! This place overall was great but was slightly confusing for me and the hubs. I'll start with the decor. Very date nightish and sexy. All though the overall feel is "cozy by the river" with dark wood paneling, burnt orange booths and huge ivory drum shades, I couldn't help but feel I was in the 60's. The entry is beautiful and very inviting when you walk in and the feel is very cozy. So mid-century modern decor with a touch of 2014?! As for the menu, it's sort of generic and boring, which is unexpected for a Camron Mitchell restaurant. When I studied menu design, this is not what they taught us, but the new trend seems to be a little of this and a little of that- not very cohesive and very odd to me. Anyways, we started out with the butter rolls. Basically, pizza rolls and just very strange to me when the inspiration for this place comes from the Culinary Institute of America, pretty sure they didn't teach that in culinary school but whatev's. So, I had the Pan Seared Scallops and it seems they forgot the mention the abundance of greens on the plate which basically make this a salad. It was great, but I wasn't looking for a salad. Huge chunks of avocado and the golden beets were the best part. My scallops were terribly under seasoned and the croutons were soaked with pure oil. But overall this was a pretty delicious dish. I also ordered a side of the colcannon potatoes and yummm, they were delish! My love had the ribs and they were pretty good. They weren't falling off the bone but the slaw served with them was the perfect balance of freshness and acidity. The other couple we were with with ordered the Texas sheet cake for desert. I could not believe this was on the menu. Talk about 1960's!! It wasn't that good anyways. As for the service. The hostess were a bit stuffy when we walked in but what else is new. Our server, Quentin was very knowledgeable and overall a great server and any other server that came to our table was very friendly. There were honestly at least 5 managers on duty but not one stopped by to ask how everything was, which is always nice gesture. Last thoughts...Even though the menu is here and there, the atmosphere, service and food is great. It does throw me off for being a date night spot with such boring food- but boring food done pretty good! We will be back!

The chicken was phenomenal, same with the mashed potatoes, and the dessert menu is verbal and it is just so good, get the Texas sheet cake!

Love the atmosphere here. 1/2 price bottles of wine $99 or less on Sunday. Sitting at the bar is as nice as sitting at a table. Wonderful daily specials. Nice heated and sheltered patio area. Fantastic decor with fireplace in the waiting area. Great selection of handcrafted drinks. Lovely service. A bit pricey, but one of my favorite places to go.

Cameron Mitchell never disappoints. Stumbled upon an apparently open Hudson 29 while en route to another restaurant in UA. Spontaneously changed our minds and decided to see if we could try our luck at Hudson 29 and I am so glad we did! The inside of the restaurant was decorated in a way that was warm and inviting but sophisticated nonetheless. The seating in the patio is a little tight. The back of my chair was right up against the back of the gentleman's chair seated behind me. It made for slightly uncomfortable maneuvering to get in and out of our seats. Nothing on the menu really seemed to catch my eye, and the menu didn't really seem to sell anything in particular or say, "pick me, pick me!!!" For a Monday night I thought maybe sea bass was a little too fancy (broke grad student speaking). I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was spot on!!! I was very pleasantly surprised. The noodles were wonderfully al dente and the braised beef on top was delicious! Don't worry, sea bass. I'm coming for you next time.

I was very impressed with the service at Hudson 29. We went for my good friends bachelorette party and loved our experience. Our server was efficient, accommodating, and made the day special. He was great at offering recommendations, knew the menu inside out, and worked around allergies in our group. I recommend the arugula salad to start--A flavorful vinaigrette and goat cheese make this a scrumptious choice. The sushi was good as were the flatbreads. Also, get the pineapple donut holes. They are made to order and extremely satisfying. I recommend this place for date night, girls night out, or pretty much any occasion. The menu has a lot to choose from and in our group of 15, everyone loved their food. Our food was brought out promptly and cooked perfectly. Give this place a try!

Cameron Mitchell knows how to serve up delicious, inventive food with amazing service! My friend and I decided to split the black bean burger with corn & avocado side dish and the roasted chicken and quinoa salad. They conveniently split everything for us in the kitchen. The burger was very flavorful and our side however, was a little undesirable...tasted like they used canned corn. The salad was absolutely delicious and the best part of the meal. Service was spot on the whole night! Make a reservation because it is crowded at all all times of day our bartender said!

Couldn't even stay long enough to eat. Never experienced such bad service. Our server never came to our table, not even to greet us or serve water. 3 tables right next to us had servers within 1 minute of sitting down. Restaurant was otherwise completely empty. Hostess told us twice she was getting our server, never showed. I can't believe this is what we got from Cameron Mitchell. We left and went to Third and Hollywood - one of our favorites - where we were greeted and served immediately.

The ambiance and decor of Hudson 29, combined with the amazing service is what most impressed me with the restaurant, not so much the food. The food is decent but not, in my opinion great, which is what someone might expect from a "top notch restaurant". The menu items are creative, yes however nothing (expect the dessert balls) that leaves you with the feeling this-is-one-of-the-most-spectacular-meals. When dining with my boyfriend there last Saturday, we split the chicken lollipops, and he ordered the prime ribs and I ordered the Hawaii sushi roll with a side of quinoa salad. The chicken lollipops were good but we found everything else to be okay but nothing exceptional. However, the price point was good, which we left spending around $74 with drinks included. One thing I can't reiterate enough is the service. The managers and GMs and staff are dressed to the nine. Everyone is extremely clean cut, professionally looking and extremely knowledgeable about the menu, it is evident they they are well trained and make quality customer service a priority. I would recommend trying the restaurant as it is receiving a lot of buzz and like I said the service is phenomenal. However, I recommend going more for an after work drink with friends rather than a date night or nice intimate dinner location. There are tvs around the bar and therefore many people come to watch games (or horse races like last weekend) and so people can get a little loud and rowdy. Hope this helps!

Pretentious, pretentious, pretentious. From the $10 bottled drinks to the ridiculously formal wait staff, this place can only be described as pretentious. The very casual food was good but that's the only positive thing I would say about Hudson 29. Why are you bottling drinks that can be made easily and quickly by the bartender? Do they cost $10 because of the bottle? It was at best a $6 cocktail. The prices were also that of a formal restaurant. $15 hamburger?!? Really? And can I please get some ice in my tap water that was brought out in a jar and set on our table? (Pretentious!!!!!) The hummus was excellent hence the two stars. I can't imagine we will return.

From now on, when my earbuds hear Hudson or 29, my tastebuds are going to break out into spontaneous song and dance. Tuna tartare on a a baguette was the best tuna I've ever had. We had shrimp taquitos as an appetizer, they were also great. The scallops, prime rib and steak enchilada are all top of the line. The young man behind the bar knew more about liquor than the rat pack. The homemade caramel sauce with the donut holes were the best dessert I had in years. If I could change one thing....lower the prices by 5-7% The main dishes were not quite worth the money, but everything else exceeded expectations.

Lunch with my daughter in UA recently. French dip (medium rare perfect) was fabulous. Decadent sugared pastry dessert frighteningly tasty. Server Maria extraordinary. Akron needs a Hudson's....now. I can't afford driving down here once a week for lunch. Can you fix this?

First off, I would like to say that I DO NOT recommend this place for people with allergies. I made reservations here on a Friday night for my boyfriend's birthday. They were very busy. The hostess acted like we were bothering him. He did not greet us at all, after standing there a few minutes while he was helping someone else, he turned to us and just stared and waited for us to talk. I told him we had a reservation and he just shoved a beeper in our face, didn't say anything. About 10 minutes later we were sat in quite possibly the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the bar AND the kitchen. It was incredibly loud and there were drunk people being obnoxious. It was difficult to even have a conversation without shouting. I have both a nut and shellfish allergy. This menu is really horrible for people who have allergies, as none of the items on the menu list all of the ingredients in them. I had to ask the waitress to tell me what was in several different meals, only to find out there were some sort of nut in most of them. She seemed annoyed to have to list all of the ingredients to me, and said "we can make it to order if you want without nuts" but I don't like to do that just in case they get it wrong and I don't know until I start eating it. I finally settled on the black bean burger and fries, only to find out the fries are cooked in peanut oil! First of all, what high end restaurant uses peanut oil? And second of all, what restaurant uses peanut oil and doesn't give a warning on the menu????? Had I known they use peanut oil I would have never even come to this restaurant to begin with. So I settled on the side of potatoes. However, half an hour later my meal comes out with a side of fries. They had to remake my whole meal while my boyfriend let his meal sit there and get cold because he refused to eat without me. The person who brought our food out showed us the order did say "nut allergy", basically to make sure we still tipped the waitress well, but other than that we didn't get an apology or any money off of our food, which I normally never expect, but serving someone something they clearly stated they are allergic to at the very least deserves an apology from a manager. Besides this incident, the food was just okay, nothing special and not worth the hefty prices. They were basically meals we could have gotten anywhere for a fraction of the price. This place most definitely does not live up to Cameron Mitchell standards in my option. We love many other Cam Mitchell restaurants so I think we will stick with some of the older, better run restaurants instead of returning to this restaurant or any of the other new Cam Mitchell ones. It seems they are now focusing on opening as many restaurants as possible, instead of focusing on the quality of their restaurants and food.

What can you say? Cameron Mitchell hits another one out of the park. Great location right on Lane, great ambiance, and fantastic food/drink. Nice bar area if you have to wait. Service is outstanding from door to exit. Classy experience. I'm very critical on food and everything was great. Scallops, salmon, steaks, ribs, sushi, and dips were all great. Will be back for another session.

Quality of the food as usual for a Cameron Mitchell restaurant was excellent. I had the California rolls and scallops, and my wife and I shared a bottle of Conundrum. However, the good food was overshadowed by having to wait nearly a half hour beyond our reservation time for a table. It was obvious that they overbooked tables (on a Wednesday no less) not unlike a doctor's office, so that you're stuck waiting. I'm sure they wouldn't have held our reservation had we been 30 minutes late. Dinner itself was only an hour, so we spent half again as much time waiting to be seated, which one would expect as a walk in but not with a reservation. Unfortunately the slow start impacted what otherwise was a not great but good meal overall.

Marginal at best. Short ribs, their "special dish" was cold. Potatoes were slapped together, and the sauce was barely warm. Not impressed at all.

Excellent food delivered to the table very quickly. Unpretentious but attentive very pro wait staff and your choice of comfort food standbys or well-imagined new inventions. Eat a light main course so you can deserve the strawberry shortcake.

Pricey but worth it. Dressy atmosphere and a lil noisy. The sweet juicy scallops were on point. Recommended! Also adding to the ambience was the summer thunderstorm and rain ;)

This place was great! It reminded me of Manhattan!! It is kinda loud so go there with friends and family. Not date night if you wanna have a quite dinner with your partner. We sat at the bar, service was a little slow but it was kinda slammed. It was a Tuesday night too. We got there at 730 pm. I love cosmos and I'm very picky about how they are made. I order a cosmo and it was fantastic!!! We order the chicken lollipops, YUMMY!! We both order the prime rib, SO GOOD!! I didn't like my mashed potatoes thou. My friend did. Way too much green onions in it for me. The menu is werid, I would look at it before you go.Would recommend calling ahead for reservations. If you don't , expect to wait an hour or more. This place is happening

Overall an average experience but at a very high cost. The french dip isn't nearly as good as Houlihan's but its $18! For a sandwich and fries? An appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks for over $100. The atmosphere is nice but not that nice! I don't think I be going back with all the options in UA now.

Clientele is upper middle class, so it feels fancy, and there are a lot of cougars. The service is great, cocktails are pretty good albeit their cocktail menu was somewhat limited, but I'm sure the bar can make almost anything. Food was decent, pricey but you're paying for the unique atmosphere. Parking in parking structure is convenient. Waited for an hour and a half at 730 Friday night for a table for 4 as a walk in but they have places to sit and stand out by the hostesses station, and they're very attentive to you, getting drinks to you from the bar. We had a good time chatting over drinks on the couches near the fire place while we waited that hour and a half so it was no big deal. 3 bourbon honeys and a French dip sandwich and splitting a tuna tartare appy ran you up to ~$50, the sandwich was good and filling.

Really enjoyed it! We sat on the patio, so avoided the darker inside and noise that other reviewers have commented on. My husband and I weren't actually that excited by the menu, other than the sushi options, it seemed fairly average. We got the shrimp taquitos to start and they were good, but not great. But our entrees were delicious - prime rib and sea bass were both so good. We also got a side of tomatoes and feta - simple but amazing. Dessert was doughnuts (we could have shared) and strawberry shortcake - both were very good also. Some service miscues - had to ask for the side when our entrees arrived, and they brought out the wrong dessert for me but quickly fixed the error. All in all, a great experience.

Came for my birthday dinner with 12 friends. The service was fantastic. We sat on the enclosed patio & it was perfect because we were able to hear each other while we spoke. The food was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to come back again!

loved everything about this place!! apps, drinks, entree, dessert, service, decor, ambiance. the total package. only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I have only been once. the ribs were out if this world!! definitely, definitely recommend! and definitely going back!

Went there on Saturday night at 9. We had to wait for some time, anticipated wait was 1.5 hrs but we didn't have to wait that long. The bar was crowded! The place is elegant, chic.. Kind of place where you would take your guests. We ordered hummus dip, black bean burger with corn avocado salad - both were pretty good. It's expensive place- so be prepared. Ambience outweighs food. I haven't tried their cocktails yet- but they look good on the menu. The service was really slow on that day.

Another Cameron Mitchell restaurant concept opens, UA his home town. Hard to believe it has been 20 years since Cameron's Contemporary American Cuisine opened in Oct 1993. (Original name). Crafted cocktails, a few are bottled in house. Deversified menu. Another location opening later this year in New Albany.

LOUD. LOUD. LOUD. yes, I'm shouting and you will too if you want to be heard. This place is hazardous to your hearing and the food is so-so and radically overpriced. If you want the driest most tasteless Ruben in Columbus for a mere $17, then this your kind of place. My friend had the chicken and ribs. The ribs were good but the chicken was dry and tasted like it was a leftover from a couple days before.

My first dining experience at Hudson 29 was lovely. Service was 25% Tip-Worthy and the food was superb. The bottled drinks, however, are gimmickry. My second dining experience at Hudson 29 was a bomb. Service was boorish and the prime rib, though tender, was flat in taste. It is offputting when a hostess is pretentious. It is obvious that diners are seated in different sections of the restaurant depending on their attire and if "children are on board". While dining, the waitstaff washed the windows in front of my table. Tasteless for a Mitchell's restaurant. Hudson 29 is what I refer to as "undefined" concept. Is it blue jeans or suits? Is it grab a burger or savor a prime rib? Maybe this new restaurant is working out the kinks, and once the dust settles, it will develop into a Columbus Gem.

I had dinner here at this restaurant and had a terrible experience. Our waitress (Annie) asked if me and my African American friends were going to tip her prior to leaving the restaurant. We looked at her like she was crazy, disrespectful, and totally inappropriate. Also some of our food was not hot. I do not recommended this place because of this degrading experience.

Great place to go to get a vibe that you normally can't find in UA. The bottled drinks were great, food was plenty good enough and the service was outstanding. More parking is available than you might imagine when you drive by so I'd certainly recommend this for someone who is looking for something different while driving up and down Lane Avenue.

another Cameron Mitchel hit!! went on a whym with my wife on a friday night at 7, no reservation, but we wanted to try Camerons newest endeavor. we were told our wait time would be 60 -70 minutes, however we were seated in less than 35. The decorvreminded me of New York or something I would find in Chicago, warm, rustic and inviting. The menu had a bit of everything, my wife has a gluton alergy and had the gluten free cheeseburger, while I had a Ruben. Both were fantastic, service was amazing, Aaron was our server and he was great. can't wait to go back.

Came here last night with a group of 7. 2 of us had been here before, the others were anxious to try. Although were were here early (5:45) as only time available for a group our size before 9, the place was packed. The food for everyone was just fine, typical for a Cameron's restaurant but nothing really exciting. It was all well executed. Good sushi, salads etc. but our service was awful. After menus were provided, our sever showed us where the drinks were listed and said he would give us some time to look. 15 minutes later he reappeared. We ordered 1 soda, 1 cocktail, 3 glasses of wine and a beer. The soda came out first, which is typical as it doesn't come from the bar. Next trip, the cocktail shows up. Few more minutes elapse and the beer and 2 glasses of wine arrive, but not the other glass. (It was red - maybe they keep that at a different bar?!) Finally, 15 minutes and 4 trips later our entire party had their drinks. Cut to the check. We asked for the checks to be split by couples. The Checks arrive and everyone who had ordered a glass of wine had been charged the full bottle price. We point it out and 3 checks corrected and paid- no problem. Now we all have our change back, but he has forgotten to take the 4th check and correct it. He apologizes, takes the fourth check and returns it with the full bottle price on it again! At this point we are beyond exasperated and cannot believe the waiter did not look at the check to make sure the problem was corrected. The sad thing is, all of us live in Upper Arlington and were thrilled to have somewhere new to eat and drink. I don't think any of us will be returning any time soon

Went here last night for a special dinner with my sister. Parking in a garage behind the restaurant, which was convenient. No reservations, but it was about 7 on a Wednesday. Still, fairly crowded. Seated right away, water immediately brought to table. The cocktails sounded intriguing, so my sister and I each had one from their "sparkling" menu. Not extraordinary, so maybe wine would have been a better choice. We ordered the meat and cheese appetizer. Quite tasty, although no explanation was given at service to point out the various components, which might have been helpful. Then we each thought the prime rib and mashed potatoes colcannon was what we wanted. Our entrees came out quite quickly, as the appetizer was not even half finished, but the food runner didn't seem to care. Later, Brittany, our sever, apologized that the entrees came out so quickly. We actually ended up not finishing all of the appetizer. But believe me, the prime rib was juicy, seasoned perfectly, and one of the most delicious prime ribs we've had anywhere. I asked for mine to be more on the rare side, and it was. It came with a lovely horseradish sauce that enhanced the flavor of the rich beef. The potatoes were fine, a good enough side dish. Brittany contained to check on us, and our water glasses were refilled periodically. Finally, we decided to split a dessert. Choices were Texas Sheet Cake, Strawberry Shortcake and Pineapple Upside-down Cake doughnuts with a caramel dipping sauce. We opted for the doughnuts, and they came out fresh and hot. A great choice with the caramel. A perfect ending to the evening. Definitely a nice option for an Upper Arlington location, although it tended to get noisy as others have mentioned. Special meal for a special occasion.

Hudson 29 was outstanding. We have waited a long time for Cameron to open a restaurant in U.A. and he did not disappoint. We were impressed from the second that we walked in tonight. The atmosphere was tasteful, comfortable yet sophisticated. Lighting and decor were spot on. The staff was impeccably styled, incredibly knowledgable about the menu and drinks. They were very attentive and well trained. Catherine made our experience at the bar as special as it might have been if we had a the best table in the house. The menu has a wide variety of great options to experience. We ordered the Roasted Red Pepper soup, Arugula salad, Steak & Enchilada entree and Beignets for dessert and loved all of them. We look forward to making Hudson 29 our new local favorite. Congratulations on a great opening day!

Such a disappointment. The food was so-so and drinks were very pricey. But the worst thing about my visit was the service and overall atmosphere. There was a group of us celebrating a birthday. We made an early reservation for 5pm. We arrived promptly yet the table wasn't set up yet. Wasn't a problem, got drinks at bar. Once we sat down the rest of our party arrived. Took about 20 minutes before they were served drinks. Dinner was ordered and served promptly. However we were then told by our server that our table was reserved for another party at 730pm and our checks were brought to the table. What? We thought we had the table for a while longer because at this point we hadn't even had dessert. We felt we were being pushed out. Our table was being bussed while we were still sitting there! Unprofessional and very pretentious. Will not be going back or sending friends there on a recommendation.

Love Mitchell's places and have been many times with good experiences. Went to Hudson 29 tonight and the ribeye was recommended. It had a lot of gristle. Told waiter and he offered a free dessert - surprised by that response - no thanks.

Visited this restaurant for the first time on 4/28 for lunch. The food is great and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The best part was our waiter, Demond. He noticed that we were celebrating a birthday and even noticed the birthday person's name on the greeting cards we were giving her. He brought a delicious dessert to our table with 4 plates and forks for all of us to share. This was presented to us with a candle (mercifully, no singing) and was on the house. We were truly touched and amazed. Demond made our experience and it says a lot for his training and for the restaurant that he was so observant. All in all I'd go to Hudson 29 again and would recommend it to others. Only complaint? A bit pricey but the menu does have a full spectrum of offerings.
